Bill did the flyers have any interest in Duclair? Any opinon why they didn't try to acquire him? Seems like not a lot was given up to acquire him

Great stuff Bill, thanks!

I was at the 76 game vs the Red Army team. I had no idea what was going on when the Russians walked off in the first, but I do remember my older cousin telling me it was because the Russians were scared of the Flyers!

That game was a blast and remains one of my fondest Flyer memories.

Geez what a line that’s going to be for the soo. The all star selections were a joke.

I suspect they had mild interest. There are reasons why he tumbled as far as he did in the 2013 Draft, had a return trip to the AHL last year, is now on his 3rd NHL organization and fetched a relatively modest return. Has the feet and has the hands but ignores coaching, lacks hockey sense and is still the same one-trick pony he was with Quebec.

I'm 100 percent fine with the Flyers not pursuing him.

Bill,

If the Flyers are right around where they are now or in the 2nd wildcard spot in the standings when the trade deadline comes do you see the Flyers as buyers or sellers?

Or could they maybe be a little of both?

Ive decided to take a positive outlook on Jake, Shutdown and Ghost being snubbed.

Coots plays hard minutes and could use as much time off as possible.

Ghost is a smallish guy and ditto on the breaks. He needs to keep his legs under him.

Jake is Jake. He still looks like he combs his hair with a porkchop as Simmer pointed out.

Giroux seems to be strong and healthy and motivated. Im happy for him being back where he should be.

to me only Letang was the head scratcher....remembering they try and have every team represented.

I loved Crosby trying to talk his way out of being chosen then being chosen. (frank) him weasel has been selected and walked away how many times before they started giving one game suspensions for not going.

So did Kessel not get picked?

I didn't see the full team list.

I think Hextall will more or less stand pat again if they remain on the bubble, will be sellers (Filppula) if they fall out of the race. There may not be a move to be made like last year's one that swapped out Streit on the blueline for Filppula up front. The Flyers could have had a higher-round pick for Streit but made a move geared toward immediate help in a position of bigger need.

I don't see the Flyers as significant buyers. The philosophy has been that such a move would only make sense if a) it was for the future as well as the present or b) the Flyers were in a position such that they were one big move from being a serious Cup contender.

Since the first scenario is very hard to accomplish and the latter isn't the team's reality, I think it will be another fairly quiet deadline around here.

Weasel used to say no thanks before they instituted the suspension if you don't go rule.

Also was truly hurt for a few.

Bailey and letang are my only real issues. Bailey beyond Jake coots also has guys like panarin snubbed. And they all play for better teams. Letang there could be an argument for just about the entire metro defense over him.

I'd have gone Coots over G. Give the kid his props for the breakout year. G has had his all star games.

RE: The All-Star Game

The All-Star Game really has little to do with reality. It's about the NHL sponsors.

Hence why Crosby, Ovi, McJesus and Matthews are going to be picked every year ...

Today marks the 42nd anniversary of the famed Flyers vs. Red Army Game at the Spectrum.

That was such a fantastic game. I love re-watching it.
